How many of you have eaten a bowl of pasta with marinara and felt uncomfortably full afterwards? I know I have.
I realize that this sounds like a strange thing to dress a salad with… but trust me it is really tasty! Having a bowl of greens covered in marinara rather than a bowl of pasta can leave you just as satiated without feeling like there is a rock in your stomach. Pictured above is:
- 1/2 a head of romaine
- 4 green olives sliced
- handful of cabbage
- 1 stalk of celery
- chopped cauliflower
- a cup of marinara
When you chop cauliflower you can use it as a cheese replacement. I love this trick because it really is a good substitute for the feta texture.
Replacing pasta with greens and cheese with cauliflower are little ways to improve my nutrition. I never feel that great after eating pasta. I don’t eat dairy anymore, but when I did cheese definitely upset my stomach. Unless you have an allergy to any of the ingredients in this salad I promise you will feel full, satisfied, energized, and like you just ate a delicious Italian meal :).
