Like my review of Born to Run, there is not much I can say that hasn’t been said about Rising Strong. I thought my doodle notes I took while listening to this book on Audible would be far more useful than a review to anyone reading, so I am including a picture of that here.
I will say I enjoyed this book more than Daring Greatly. I got way more implementable tools. If you aren’t familiar with Brene Brown’s work, her Ted Talk on the power of vulnerability is a great place to start (20 minutes well worth your time, YouTube it!)
My main take away from Rising Strong is when you practice vulnerability in any arena of your life, you will surely fall on your face. And regret being vulnerable, because it feels safer to be stoic. Living a whole hearted life is not always the most comfortable path, but practicing authenticity, bravery, and empathy for others is an emotionally fulfilling way to live.
